Job Description
DP TRAINING SOLUTIONS: Grand opening June, 2015
A Dynamic Positioning training facility run by real DPOs and not located in Houston, New Orleans, or Florida? Yes, it is finally happening.
DP Training Solutions, LLC, a privately owned trained facility located in Great Neck, NY, is set to open its doors Monday, June 8th. The state-of-the-art Dynamic Positioning training facility is strategically located in the Northeast corridor to allow better access to four of the major US Maritime Academies (US Merchant Marine Academy, SUNY Maritime College, Massachusetts Maritime Academy and Maine Maritime Academy), compared to that of training facilities in Houston or South Florida. Adding to their geographic advantage, the average cost of DP Training Solutions’ courses will be roughly 15% less than their main competition with savings as much as $600 per course. In addition, two local hotels, The Inn at Great Neck and The Andrew, are offering special discounted rates and, importantly, are located just a five minute walk from the DPTS facility.
Spearheaded by CAPT George Sandberg’s years of experience in simulation training and course development, DPTS will combine state-of-the-art Kongsberg Dynamic Positioning equipment with Nautical Institute certified DP Instructors to allow students to maximize their knowledge of the subject matter while minimizing the blow to their wallets and valuable off-time.
Keith Wagner, a 2009 USMMA grad and the company’s CEO, has received overwhelming support from his industry peers and expects the courses to be something that the students actually look forward to. “We are thrilled to bring DP training to the next generation of mariners. As the management team here knows from actual experience, proper training is essential to safety and advancement in this fast-growing technology. We have worked hard to make this center a reality and will relentlessly focus on skill and safety.”
Registration for the first class on June 8th is currently underway.
